Page/Server speed

Page/Server speedI am wondering if anyone has noticed any slowdown, not necessarily a server issue more likely a transatlantic bottleneck...
If anyone reading this can give me an estimate of how long it takes from click (post button) to the time taken for the post display to display the resulting post... I would especially be interested in comparing regions (US/Europe)... I will add some the page generation times at the end for this post... BTW I am using a 20MB cable connection (1.5 MB up/ 20MB down) so the update should be instant (very quick)... Sever generation time norms: 50-250ms... Test 1: An edit took: 35 second before page updated: page generation 143ms. Test 2:An edit took: 27 second before page updated: page generation 152ms. Test 3: additional timimgs... Out bound 1 (time taken for acknowledgement of data from server): 7 seconds... In bound (received data and page update): 39 seconds... Out bound 2 (time taken for acknowledgement of data from server): 5 seconds... In bound (received data and page update): 27 seconds... Conclusion... Outbound speed is a little slower than normal usually around 2 - 3 seconds Inbound speed is much slower 30 - 60+ seconds
Re: Page/Server speedPortal
Time : 0.189s All other pages Time : 0.143s these are pretty accurate averages for me, but then I live 3 miles from the server ps. is your page load as slow on forumimages.co.uk and integramod.com? If so, what about phpbb.com? try a tracert to forumimages.us

Re: Page/Server speedDon't think it's the server H... it's ever since my broadband started to screw up about ten days ago....
It was suppose to be all fixed today... but US site appears much slower that normal... Irish sites are as normal... Testing some more before I shout at my provider... Update: I was getting paranoid, looks like they did fix the broadband... http://www.integramod.com is like the bullet train... The portal takes a week to update a page... I better check my settings... PS... Did you reinstall the net beta site? PS2... Found my problem! ... site is fine now ... Debugging this will be real interesting...
Re: Page/Server speedopen a run window and type ipconfig /flushdns
it is possible that youve cached a bad route
Re: Page/Server speedI updated last post...
I installed a meter to track my download speed and broadband usage about 6 days ago... It appears to be the cause... after I deleted it, things appear to be back to normal... Also found a problem with some templates too... I'm tracking this one down...

Re: Page/Server speedI found my problem... or at least I fixed it...
Over the last two weeks I have been install and testing all kind of software... One or more of them were causing the problem but as my broadband has been screwed (on and off mostly off) over the last ten days I suspected it was the culprit... I removed a couple of programs including a download meter and things were back to normal... I first suspected the download meter but after I then removed all the programs I was testing and put back it back (the download meter) we are still good... It's very possible it was more likely a conflict problem as on at least one occasion I could not browse the net and my ISP said the broadband was working fine in my area (didn't believe them but I do now).... I should have guessed earlier... I was sure it was not the server as the php/mysql timing was still perfect but something was delaying the data... ![]()
